Film Review – Reign of the Supermen (2019) [Video]

It always feels like animation that isn’t the standard 3D, CGI look that Pixar and Disney throws at us a few times a year is often left behind, as if it’s inaccessible like some pretentious indie that points the camera at a tree branch slowly swaying in the breeze for thirty minutes straight. Thankfully we have DC Animation to break the mold, to dare to be different with their elongated leash compared to their live-action counterparts. Following the sensation that was The Death of Superman animated film last year — don’t worry, there was exactly one less cave troll in it than in BvS — DC Animation is back to finish out one of the most epic comic book stories with Reign of the Supermen. It’s like the brooding version of Into the Spider-Verse, but with Supermen! Neat!
