When watching a straight-to-Netflix movie that was never going to leave a theatrical imprint, where does one draw the line between holding high standards and simply allowing the film to wash over you as you casually watch? That’s the question that will drive your thoughts of Walk. Ride. Rodeo. as it rarely succeeds at a heart-wrenching drama, even if it has a heartwarming, true story at its center.

I watched it this weekend. I love the story itself, though it’s very sad. I love how she fights to get back on the horse. Kudos to her. And double kudos to her mom for fighting the way she did (putting her daughter in her place! Way to go Mom!)
What I didn’t like was:
1. when she’s racing and the film goes into fast-motion. It looked very fake. A couple of times she’s riding and her hair is barely moving. That too looked fake.
I don’t like too much backstory. Once in a while, the character thinks back? Yes, that’s fine. But back and forth throughout the movie? No.
I did like the story line however and would rate it 3.5 stars.
I wonder if the creators felt it was necessary for more background because it was based on true events?
