Although Coco was the most popular (and most seen) film of those that were nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 90th Academy Awards, other, lesser-known films still deserved recognition — especially The Breadwinner. The international co-production tackles important subjects that are much more mature than your typical animated feature — transcending typical tropes within the genre. The following review will be spoiler free.
