‘First Reformed’ Spoiler Discussion

If you’re into independent film, and, more specifically, A24 films, odds are that you saw First Reformed earlier this year. It’s even more likely that this film hypnotized you into a state of deep contemplation.

If you read my review of the film, you’d know that I was incredibly puzzled by First Reformed…and I still am! What the hell was that movie?!?!

Ethan Hawke powered this film about a priest who goes down a very dark path (and that’s putting it lightly) to high heights in one of the best performances of his great career, but many people were left wondering one thing, and one thing alone: what the hell was that ending?

To me the movie was just a random blank statement that wanted to mean something and couldn’t decide on it.
