I’ve always been a massive fan of the sci-fi genre. There are so many ways to tell wholly unique stories, whether they be on a massive scale like Inception or something that is the exact opposite, which brings us to this list of modern cult sci-fi films before you.
Science fiction allows creators to make films with some of the greatest thematic pursuits possible on the smallest scale. From Shane Carruth to Benson and Moorhead, we’re seeing more DIY creativity than ever in this space, making for super odd, inventive films with little to no filters. Not only is it a positive sign for other filmmakers that simply want to make their project on their own terms, but they’re just a hell of a lot of fun to discuss.

I’ve seen four out of five of these, and would agree that they’re all good films worthy of a larger audience. I especially love ‘Coherence’, which I would really recommend. I recently wrote a review on ‘The Endless’, which can be read at
