After expanding wide into theaters following a limited release last weekend, Searching has become a late-summer, sleeper hit of sorts. Given its buzzy premise and presentation (that being a crime thriller that takes place completely on a computer screen), I can’t say that this news is very surprising. Plus we all want more John Cho in our lives, amiright?
If you follow the site, you’d know that Steven Ruiz wrote a glowing review of the film upon its release, and that sentiment seems to fall in line with most critics out there. But then there’s director Richard Keaney, who wasn’t exactly impressed with what Searching had to offer.
