Arguably one of the best things for a film studio is to see the sequel to one of their films vastly outperform the original. For Sony, this was the case from Hotel Transylvania to Hotel Transylvania 2 as the worldwide gross jumped from about $358 million to $473 million the second time around. This type of situation speaks to the love for the original film…and the growing love for a possible franchise too.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation debuted this weekend, also performing quite nicely by taking in over $100 million for its worldwide gross, showing that Sony has a very strong (and zany) moneymaker on its hands.
But with any newly created trilogy, the classic question of how the films compare to each other always comes up, so allow us to beat you to it!

This franchise needs to die before it spreads any more from this.
I actually don’t hate these movies…
They’re not all bad but they are becoming the new Alvin and the Chipmunks. In the next one they’re going on a road trip. Just watch.
I haven’t seen the new one so I can’t speak for it yet, but we’ll see — Sony is definitely gonna milk it until it’s dry lol
