Must-See South Korean Thrillers (Watch)

Must-See South Korean Thrillers

South Korea has created some impeccable films in recent memory, building up its reputation around the world as a great exporter of artistic expression.  Director Richard Keaney agrees with this sentiment as well, shifting his discussion of essential cinema from around the world to must-see South Korean thrillers.

As with Keaney’s discussion of must-see Argentinian films, thrillers are great entry points into other cultures as gripping, tense stories are accessible no matter the individual’s native language.  From there, you can expand your knowledge of different cultures even further.

To find some must-see South Korean thrillers to watch for yourself, check out director Richard Keaney’s video on the topic below:

As I watch a lot of Asian movies, I would have a hard time picking 5, especially Korean. I agree, some of the classics you mentioned are good; however, some of the newer ones I’ve seen send chills up my spine just thinking about them. Here’s a few to check out in the future:
The Chronicles of Evil
The Gifted Hands
Kundo
The Admiral (Brilliant historical film)
Haunters
And I had a hard time just mentioning 5!

Those are certainly great ones too! That’s why Richard Keaney wanted to highlight South Korean cinema, there’s too many great films for it to be ignored!

THE MAN FROM NOWHERE
Hands down favorite Korean movie. I saw the devil was really good too. A TAXI DRIVER was an amazing historical action film about a taxi driver that unknowingly drives a client to Gwanju during the Gwanju Uprising of the 1980s. Definitely recommend to the moviebabbler

Train to Busan is fantastic! Very smartly written and more more than the typical zombie film
